Bodhidharma (Daruma in Japanese) was a Buddhist monk born in India. He was the 38th chief monk from Buddha. He moved to China, and he became a founder of ZEN.

The Daruma/Dharma doll, a hollow, round, Japanese traditional doll, is modeled after Bodhidharma.
