STEAM Podcast #9 · Christina Oud · July 2026
I joined Christina Oud for episode 9 of the STEAM Podcast for a conversation about Japanese rope, the difference between Shibari and Kinbaku, and the ideas behind the practice.
We also talked about history, psychology, control, trust and surrender. Halfway through, the interview changed shape completely: Christina continued asking questions while I tied her, turning the conversation into an experience rather than simply a discussion about one.

About this episode
What starts as a conversation about Japanese rope becomes something more intimate when Christina moves from interviewer to participant.
While she continues asking questions, I tie her in the studio. The conversation moves between the history and language of Japanese rope, the psychology behind it, and the experience of control, trust and surrender as it is happening.
“Interviewing while entering subspace turns out to be harder than it sounds.”
