The Workshop

Level: Strong beginner / Intermediate,
Prerequisite:

Rigger: Single and double column ties are your bread and butter (these will not be explained anymore), must be confident with frictions and know how to do a basic gote and futomomo
Model: You are able to recognize and communicate good/bad bodily sensations. A pre is experience being in full body ties.

Dirty ties are ties that are challenging, intense and/or sexual. With this workshop we strive for physical and emotional intensity by using traditional Japanese bondage aka kinbaku. If you and your partner are passionate about exploring intense and thrilling sensations, such as aibunawa or semenawa, than this workshop is an excellent opportunity for you. By participating in this workshop, you will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively incorporate these types of play into your bondage sessions, resulting in a more profound and exhilarating experience.

This workshop is designed to offer a balanced mix of longer and shorter ties, ranging from simple yet captivating techniques to more intricate full body ties and experiences. With all ties, you as a couple can play around to see how intense you want to make it. Throughout the workshop, we will incorporate the use of bamboo to enhance the beauty and creativity of your tying and we will use uplines to play with the third-rope-dimension.

We will be tying on a single point, and you’ll learn many ways to tie (off) uplines and gain more insight in which techniques you choose when and why. We’ll take you through various exercises to help you really understand this. For the more complex full body ties, there will be plenty of time to experiment, play around, and ask for personal feedback and adjustments. We’ll also flirt with semenawa, predicaments and slow suffering.

Within Japanese rope bondage the gote is an iconic and classic part of kinbaku and generally at the heart of any tie or suspension. Since RopeMarks teaches in the lineage of kinbaku we’ll generally work gote-based ties. We will start this workshop with a short refresh and refine of your gote so everybody is prepared for all the dirtiness that will follow.

Program

Topics that we will address are:

  • Gote refresher
  • A handful of dirty ties!
  • A handful of smaller ties to incorporate in your tying and sessions
  • Anatomy & safety
  • Communication
  • Rope handling

Each topic will include safety information, details to improve your rope handling, specific techniques to improve your tying and to deepen the connection with your partner. During the workshop there’ll be plenty of room for experimenting and personal advice.

Who’s RopeMarks?

RopeMarks, also known as Bob Roos, is a Dutch rope artist who specializes in Japanese rope bondage, also known as shibari or kinbaku. Professionally he began studying and perfecting his craft in 1999, under the lineage of the late Akechi Denki (明智伝鬼) and Naka Akira (奈加あきら) in Japan. While RopeMarks’ work reflects the traditional techniques taught by these leading kinbakushi, he has also developed his own unique and distinct style.

RopeMarks is widely recognized as the foremost Dutch expert in Japanese rope bondage, and is highly respected in the global kinbaku community. He has taught workshops and classes around the world including, but not limited to, Europe, the United States, Russia and Japan. Using the name RopeMarks Ryū he provides real, fun, hands-on, courses, classes, lessons and workshops in Japanese rope bondage worldwide.

Who’s the Shady Lady?

The Shady Lady is a slightly perverted lady who has been tying regularly with RopeMarks for the past 2,5 years, and her passion for being in rope is still growing. She experiences rope as a means to soften and open up to herself and to her partner, to enter a shared space of eroticism and hyperfocus, to play and to feel pleasure.

Although both partners have separate experiences in a rope session, a good session for her creates a magical spark that moves beyond these individual experiences (1+1=3). She likes Japanese aesthetics, semenawa, genuine dynamics between rope partners, BDSM elements mixed with rope, fun and laughter during tying as well as the darker desires that can be expressed in rope (and no, the latter two are not as contradictory as they sound!)
