Last updated: 15 September 2026
RopeMarks respects your privacy and aims to handle personal information carefully, transparently and only where there is a legitimate reason to do so.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data may be collected when you visit RopeMarks.com, contact RopeMarks, create a webshop account, place an order or book a workshop, and how that information is used.
1. Who is responsible for your data
RopeMarks is a brand operated by Rising Sun Mania, a sole proprietorship established in the Netherlands.
Rising Sun Mania is the data controller for personal data processed through RopeMarks.com.
If you have a question about your personal data or want to exercise one of your privacy rights, please use the contact form on the RopeMarks website.
2. What personal data we collect
The information we collect depends on how you use the website.
Contact forms
When you contact RopeMarks through a form, we may collect information such as your name, email address, the contents of your message and any other information you choose to provide.
Form submissions may be stored on the website and are also delivered by email.
Forms may use Google reCAPTCHA to help protect the website against spam, automated submissions and abuse. Google may process technical information when reCAPTCHA is used.
Please avoid including unnecessary sensitive personal information in a general contact form.
Webshop accounts
If you create an account for the RopeMarks webshop, we may store information such as your name, email address, billing address, shipping address where applicable, account details and order history.
Website accounts are used for the webshop only.
Orders and workshop bookings
When you purchase a product or book a workshop through the webshop, we process the information needed to handle your order or booking.
Depending on the transaction, this may include your name, email address, billing information, billing address, shipping address, products or workshops purchased, order and transaction details and communications relating to your order or booking.
For physical products, the information necessary to deliver your order may be provided to PostNL.
Workshop bookings do not normally require shipping information.
Payments
Payments are processed using Stripe.
Payment information required to complete the transaction is processed by Stripe. RopeMarks does not need to receive or store your complete payment-card details.
Stripe may process transaction, payment, device and fraud-prevention information according to its own privacy practices.
Comments
Some parts of RopeMarks.com allow visitors to leave comments.
When you leave a comment, the website may collect the information entered in the comment form, your IP address and browser or technical information used for spam prevention and website security.
Information that you deliberately publish in a comment may become publicly visible.
Comments and associated metadata may be retained while the comment remains published or where retention is reasonably necessary for moderation, security or administration.
3. Website usage and technical information
When you visit RopeMarks.com, the website and its hosting infrastructure may automatically process technical information required to deliver and protect the website.
This can include information such as your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, date and time of requests, referring pages and technical or security events.
RopeMarks is hosted by Virtual DynamiX. Server and access logs may be retained by the hosting provider according to its operational, security and retention practices.
This information is primarily used to operate the website, diagnose problems, prevent abuse and maintain security.
4. Google Analytics
RopeMarks uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website and to improve its content and usability.
Google Analytics is an optional analytics service and is not loaded until you give consent through the website’s privacy settings.
If you enable Analytics, Google Analytics may process information such as pages visited, interactions with the website, approximate geographic information, browser and device information, session information and analytics identifiers.
RopeMarks does not intentionally send names, email addresses or other directly identifying contact information to Google Analytics.
You can change or withdraw your Analytics consent through the website’s privacy settings.
5. Cookies and consent preferences
RopeMarks.com uses cookies and similar browser technologies.
Necessary cookies are used where required for the website to function correctly. These may support functions such as:
- webshop and shopping-cart operation;
- checkout;
- account login;
- security;
- session management; and
- remembering your privacy choices.
Necessary cookies cannot be disabled through the site’s privacy controls because the website requires them to provide the requested functionality.
Analytics
Google Analytics is only loaded if you enable Analytics through the website’s privacy settings.
External Content
Optional third-party content such as Google Maps is only loaded if you enable the relevant External Content option.
Remembering your choices
RopeMarks uses Avada’s privacy-consent system to remember your privacy choices. It stores a consent cookie named privacy_embeds in your browser.
Your consent preferences are currently remembered for 180 days.
You can accept all optional services, reject them, or choose individual services through the website’s privacy settings.
You can also delete cookies through your browser settings. Removing the consent cookie may cause the website to ask for your privacy preferences again.
6. Embedded and third-party content
Some pages on RopeMarks.com contain content delivered by third-party services.
These currently include services such as:
- Google Maps, for displaying maps; and
- bunny.net, for delivering video content.
Google Maps is blocked until you give consent for External Content through the website’s privacy settings.
When third-party content is loaded, the provider may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser information and the page from which the content was requested.
bunny.net is used to deliver video content. Depending on the technical delivery method, bunny.net may receive connection and request information necessary to provide that content.
Third-party providers process information according to their own privacy policies and technical configurations.
7. Why we process personal data
Performance of a contract
We process information where it is necessary to process a webshop order or workshop booking, arrange delivery, provide an account you requested, handle payment-related administration or provide another service you requested.
Legitimate interests
We may process information where reasonably necessary for legitimate business interests, including answering enquiries, operating and maintaining the website, protecting the website against spam, fraud and abuse, maintaining website and account security, moderating comments, keeping appropriate business records and establishing, exercising or defending legal claims.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the interests and privacy rights of the people involved.
Legal obligations
Some information must be retained or processed because RopeMarks is required to do so under tax, accounting or other applicable laws.
Consent
Where processing requires your permission, including Google Analytics and optional third-party content such as Google Maps, RopeMarks relies on your consent.
Optional services remain disabled until you enable them through the website’s privacy controls.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.
8. Who we share information with
RopeMarks does not sell your personal data.
Personal data may be provided to service providers where this is necessary to operate the website or provide a service you requested.
Depending on how you use RopeMarks.com, these providers may include:
- Virtual DynamiX, for website hosting and email services;
- Stripe, for payment processing and payment security;
- PostNL, for delivery of physical orders;
- Google, for Google Analytics, Google Maps and reCAPTCHA, depending on the services you use and the consent choices you make; and
- bunny.net, for video delivery.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law, a court order or a competent public authority, or where reasonably necessary to protect legal rights.
Some providers may act as data processors on behalf of RopeMarks, while others may process certain information as independent data controllers under their own legal responsibilities.
9. International data transfers
Some of the external services used by RopeMarks operate internationally.
This means that personal data may, in some circumstances, be processed outside the European Economic Area.
Where personal data is transferred internationally, applicable data-protection rules require appropriate safeguards for those transfers. Depending on the provider and destination, these safeguards may include an adequacy decision, an approved data-transfer framework or contractual safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. How long we keep personal data
RopeMarks does not keep personal information longer than reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
- Contact-form enquiries are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with the enquiry and any resulting relationship.
- Webshop account information may be retained while the account remains active or while it is necessary for order administration.
- Comments may remain stored for as long as they remain published or are required for moderation and administration.
- Technical and security information may be retained for an appropriate period for troubleshooting, security and abuse prevention.
- Order, invoice and accounting information may be retained for the period required under Dutch tax and accounting legislation.
Certain basic business and accounting records must generally be retained for seven years under Dutch tax rules.
Third-party providers may apply their own retention periods to information that they process.
11. Your privacy rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation and other applicable data-protection laws, you may have the right to:
- request access to personal data held about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion of personal data;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to certain processing;
- receive certain personal data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
- lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.
These rights are not absolute. For example, RopeMarks may need to retain certain information to comply with tax, accounting or other legal obligations.
To exercise your rights, use the contact form on RopeMarks.com.
RopeMarks may need to verify your identity before providing, changing or deleting personal information.
12. Complaints
If you have a concern about how RopeMarks handles your personal information, please contact RopeMarks first so the issue can be investigated.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Information about privacy rights and complaints is available at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
13. Security
RopeMarks takes reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against accidental loss, unauthorised access, misuse, alteration or disclosure.
However, no website or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
14. Automated decision-making
RopeMarks does not itself use personal data to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on visitors or customers.
External payment and security providers may use automated systems for purposes such as fraud detection, transaction security and abuse prevention under their own privacy practices.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the website, services, legal requirements or third-party providers change.
The latest version will always be published on this page, together with the date of the most recent update.
