Since RopeMarks adheres to and teaches this tradition\, we prioritize imparting the techniques and knowledge required for tying your model’s arms behind their back in the gote style. There’s no single “correct” gote; the best one is the one that suits your model. We believe almost everyone can be comfortable in a gote-based tie. \nDuring this workshop\, you’ll be tying on a bamboo. There are various ways to tie off uplines\, but which method do you choose and when? We will guide you through several exercises to help you understand these choices. \nNext\, we’ll apply the knowledge of the gote and uplines to three floor ties\, progressively making them more intricate. Along the way\, we’ll introduce you to a variety of smaller ties for added fun. \nBy the end of this workshop\, both riggers and rope models will have advanced to a solid beginner/intermediate skill level. \nRecommended precursor workshop is our Ryu #0\, kinbaku foundations workshop.\nRecommended follow up workshop is our Ryu #2\, Kinbaku workshop\, static suspensions. \nProgram\nTimetable\n10:30 Doors open\n11:00 Introductions and workshop part 1\n13:00 Lunch break\n14:00 Workshop part 2\n17:00 End of workshop \nTopics\nThe topics that we will address are: \n\nGote bootcamp\nUplines\nThree full body gote-based ties with uplines\nA handful of smaller ties to have fun with during your suspensions\nAnatomy & safety\nCommunication\nRope handling\nAesthetics\n\n  \nEach topic will include safety information\, details to improve your rope handling\, specific techniques to improve your tying and to deepen the connection with your partner. SUMMARY:RopeMarks Ryu #2\, Kinbaku workshop\, static suspensions
DESCRIPTION:You can sign up here!\nSold out\, or you are not sure yet if you can make it\, get on the first come first serve waiting list! \nThe Workshop\nLevel: Strong beginner / Intermediate \, \nPrerequisite:\n    rigger: You are confident with a 2 TK/gote\, any style. A plus is knowing the RopeMarks style gote. You have a basic confidence with uplines on a bamboo.\n    model: You are able to recognize and communicate good/bad bodily sensations and are familiar with the differences between nerve and circulation impingement. You are  comfortable in a basic gote. A pre is experience being in full body ties. \nThis is a full-day workshop where you’ll learn both the art of suspending and being suspended. Suspensions are visually stunning and can be incredibly exhilarating\, but they do come with risks. Our aim is to equip you with essential knowledge and foster a safe\, shared experience\, empowering you to apply what you’ve learned once you return home. Therefore\, we emphasize safety\, technique\, and communication\, progressing your skills for takeoff. \nWe’ll prepare you for suspensions by focusing on several key aspects. First and foremost\, you’ll enhance your gote tying skills to ensure they are proficient and reliable. Next\, you’ll improve your uplines tying skills to ensure they meet the demands of your desired suspensions. Finally\, you’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of how forces act on the human body during suspensions\, keeping safety as a top priority throughout the process. \nIn Japanese rope bondage\, the gote is often the core of any suspension. In this workshop\, we will not only use gotes but also explore how the gote is a classic element of Japanese rope bondage and kinbaku. As this is the tradition taught by RopeMarks\, we find it crucial to start with the gote. During this initial part of the workshop\, we’ll use your gote tying and receiving skills to assess your general proficiency in Japanese rope bondage. As a famous kinbakushi once said: “Kinbaku begins and ends with a gote.” \nNext\, we’ll build on your knowledge of the gote and uplines\, guiding you through three full-body suspensions. During these sessions\, we’ll introduce several smaller ties to add variety\, fun and challenges to your suspensions. \nWe recognize that not everyone will have the same level of proficiency with tying or being in rope. Therefore\, we’ve designed this workshop to accommodate different skill levels\, allowing each tie to be performed at a pace that feels comfortable for you and your partner. Regardless of your starting point\, your skills will progress to the next level. By the end of this workshop\, both riggers and rope models will have advanced to an intermediate or strong intermediate skill level. \nRecommended precursor workshop is our Ryu #1\, Kinbaku essentials workshop.\nRecommended follow up workshop is our Ryu #3\, Kinbaku workshop\, dynamic suspensions \nProgram\nTimetable\n10:30 Doors open\n11:00 Introductions and workshop part 1\n13:00 Lunch break\n14:00 Workshop part 2\n17:00 End of workshop\n18:00 Location must be cleared \nTopics\nThe topics that we will address are: \n\nGote refresher\nUplines refresher\nThree full body gote-based suspensions\nA handful of smaller ties to have fun with during your suspensions\nAnatomy & safety\nCommunication\nRope handling\nAesthetics\n\n  \nEach topic will include safety information\, details to improve your rope handling\, specific techniques to improve your tying and to deepen the connection with your partner. SUMMARY:RopeMarks Ryu #3\, Kinbaku workshop\, dynamic suspensions
DESCRIPTION:You can sign up here!\nSold out\, or you are not sure yet if you can make it\, get on the first come first serve waiting list! \nThe Workshop\nLevel: Intermediate / Strong intermediate\nPrerequisite:\n  rigger: You are confident with static suspensions\, including safe takeoff and landing. You can tie and adjust a reliable 2 TK gote under load and are comfortable managing uplines on bamboo. \n  model: You are experienced in suspensions\, can clearly communicate bodily sensations under load\, and can distinguish between acceptable stress\, circulation restriction\, and nerve-related signals.  \nThis is a full-day workshop focused on dynamic suspensions. Where static suspension is about structure and balance\, dynamic suspension introduces movement\, timing\, and continuous decision-making. The body is no longer simply hanging in space\, but actively responding to shifts in load\, direction\, and intention. This adds intensity\, expression\, and complexity\, and also increases responsibility for both partners. \nThe aim of this workshop is to deepen your understanding of how movement changes everything. We will work on how forces evolve during transitions\, how momentum affects the body\, and how to manage rope and partner safely while things are in motion. Safety\, communication\, and awareness remain central throughout the day. \nDynamic suspension is not about tricks or spectacle. It is about responsiveness\, trust\, and presence. Movement is used as a tool to create connection\, intensity\, and expression\, not as a performance goal. \nAs with all RopeMarks workshops\, this class is adaptable to different paces and styles. Not every pair will do the same movements\, and not every suspension will look the same. What matters is that each rigger and model leaves with a deeper understanding of dynamic load\, clearer communication\, and more confidence with working in motion. \nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will have a solid foundation in dynamic suspension principles and the ability to explore movement safely and intentionally in their own practice. \n  \nRecommended precursor workshop is our Ryu #2\, Kinbaku workshop\, static suspensions. \nThis workshop completes the core RopeMarks Ryū suspension path \n  \nProgram\nTimetable\n10:30 Doors open\n11:00 Introductions and workshop part 1\n13:00 Lunch break\n14:00 Workshop part 2\n17:00 End of workshop\n18:00 Location must be cleared \nTopics\nThe topics that we will address are: \n\nDETAILS SOON\n\n  \nEach topic will include safety information\, details to improve your rope handling\, specific techniques to improve your tying and to deepen the connection with your partner. SUMMARY:Kink On Festival 2026\, Bologna\, Italy
DESCRIPTION:For this event I will be providing two master classes on playful and dirty kinbaku. \nThe term “masterclass” comes from music and arts education\, where masters would publicly coach advanced students\, often in front of peers. The audience learned as much from the feedback as from the performance itself. \nA RopeMarks master class is an advanced learning space for experienced practitioners. It is not about teaching patterns\, but about refining presence\, intention\, and decision-making. We work with nuance\, timing\, and relational dynamics rather than fixed techniques. Participants are expected to already have a solid foundation in rope. The focus is on deepening personal voice and embodied understanding. \n  \nWho is Playful and Dirty Kinbaku for? \nFor us\, it’s for the curious\, the dirty-minded\, the ones whose attraction to rope is rooted in pleasure. If your connection to kinbaku involves sexual interest or enjoyment\, you’re in the right place. \nSexuality in rope doesn’t need to lead to penetration or orgasm\, in fact\, it’s often more interesting when it doesn’t. We believe the brain is the biggest sexual organ\, and that play is one of its favorite languages. \nIn this workshop\, we’ll explore sexuality through a playful lens. Kinbaku isn’t a goal\, it’s a way to play. Too often\, we get stuck in the engineering mindset and forget that rope can be messy\, flirty\, and filthy fun. This workshop is an invitation to drop the pressure\, connect with your partner\, and rediscover the joy in dirty rope. \nWe don’t believe kinbaku should be about memorizing patterns. Real connection happens in the space between steps\, in the way you look at each other\, in how the rope lands\, in what it wakes up. But patterns are useful for learning. They give us something concrete to work with\, especially when you’re trying to build trust\, timing\, and body awareness. So while we teach patterns\, we don’t treat them as fixed routines. We use them as a starting point. then let them get sweaty\, responsive\, and a little filthy. \nThe workshop blends hands-on tying\, group conversations\, and personal stories from our own journeys. You’ll be guided through pre-set ties\, adaptable to different levels of skill\, intensity\, and filth. Models aren’t props; they’re players. We’ll give extra attention to their experiences and the dynamic interplay between both roles. \nThis isn’t about tying pretty pictures for Instagram (though some hot ones might sneak through). It’s about getting sweaty\, giggly\, turned on\, and turned upside-down. \nJoin us for a workshop of rope that’s playful\, dirty\, and real. \n \nPlayful and Dirty\, Part 1: Filthy Foundations\nFri. 26 Jun.\, 11:00 – 13:00 \nSkill level: Intermediate . \nIn Part 1\, we focus on rope without bamboo that give you structure to play with. We don’t believe kinbaku should be about memorizing patterns\, but patterns are useful for learning. They give you something solid to push against as you explore timing\, control\, and connection. What matters is what happens between the steps\, the look\, the breath\, the dirty little shift of intention. We teach these ties not as routines\, but as tools for getting sweaty\, responsive\, and a little filthy together. \nPlayful and Dirty\, Part 2: Bound to Bamboo\nSat. 27 Jun.\, 11:00 – 13:00 \nSkill level: Intermediate / Upper intermediate . \nIn Part 2\, we bring in bamboo\, not just as a prop\, but as a partner in the scene. Bamboo introduces structure\, exposure\, and a new kind of tension. It changes how bodies move and how power feels. You’ll learn how to integrate bamboo into your rope play in ways that are safe\, controlled\, and deliberately dirty. We’ll guide you through transitions\, placements\, and positions that open up new layers of restraint and expression. As always\, the rope is a tool\, the real focus is the dynamic you create with it. \nRope partners (riggers and models) interested in joining the workshop should: \n\nHave been tying together for a longer period of time and feel comfortable with perverted\, sexual and playful tying;\nBe able to communicate with and regularly check in with their partner;\nBe aware of the mental/physical capabilities/limits of themselves and their partner;\nBe confident with a takategote that works for them;\nBe confident with an armbinder that works for them (without loss of circulation);\nBe confident with a futumomo that works for them;\nBe confident with basic suspensions;\nShare our view that kinbaku comes with risks\, have a general understanding of what they are and how they can best be mitigated;\nBring at least 12 pieces of rope suitable for Japanese rope bondage;\nOptional: bring additional tools you like to include in your BDSM play (such as blindfolds\, canes\, paddles\, gags or nose hooks)\n\nWho’s RopeMarks? \nRopeMarks\, also known as Bob Roos\, is a kinbaku professional from Amsterdam\, the Netherlands \nHe started studying and specializing himself professionally in Japanese rope bondage (shibari\, kinbaku) in 1999.
