SUMMARY:Playful & Dirty Kinbaku with RopeMarks and the Shady Lady
DESCRIPTION:The Shady Lady was introduced as ‘a slightly perverted lady’ by Soptik at the start of RopeMarks’ and her performance at the Prague Shibari Festival in 2023. This apparently turned out to be true – and RopeMarks is quite the perverted mister himself – because we’ve been invited back for a weekend workshop to share our perverted and playful side in kinbaku. \nWho or what is playful kinbaku for perverts? We believe a pervert is somebody whose attraction to kinbaku stems from sexual interest or enjoyment. Sexuality in kinbaku can be inclusive of – but is way more expansive than – penetration or orgasm\, and we strongly believe that the biggest sexual organ is the brain. We will approach sexuality through a playful lens\, because kinbaku is a way to play and not a goal in itself. Sometimes we can focus so much on the ‘engineering’ side of rope that we forget to stop taking ourselves too seriously\, move beyond technicalities and focus on playing and perving with our partner instead. \nThe workshop consists of a mix of tying exercises\, sharing stories from our experiences and group talks. We will pay special attention to the experiences and skills of the models as it always takes two people to play. The tying exercises will range from challenging floorwork to basic suspension ties. Most ties can be done within different ranges of intensity and dirtiness\, so you can stick to your skill and comfort level. We will emphasize play and sexiness between rope partners over creating pretty pictures for Instagram – even though we cannot prevent that pretty (fun) pictures will still come out. Join us for a weekend to get playful\, pervy and dirty! \nRope partners (riggers and models) interested in joining the workshop should: \n\nHave been tying together for a longer period of time and feel comfortable with perverted\, sexual and playful tying;\nBe able to communicate with and regularly check in with their partner;\nBe aware of the mental/physical capabilities/limits of themselves and their partner;\nBe confident with a takategote that works for them;\nBe confident with an armbinder that works for them (without loss of circulation);\nBe confident with a futumomo that works for them;\nBe confident with basic suspensions;\nShare our view that kinbaku comes with risks\, have a general understanding of what they are and how they can best be mitigated;\nBring at least 12 pieces of rope suitable for Japanese rope bondage;\nOptional: bring additional tools you like to include in your BDSM play (such as blindfolds\, canes\, paddles\, gags or nose hooks)\n\n  \n\n\n\n\nWho’s RopeMarks? \nRopeMarks\, also known as Bob Roos\, is a kinbaku professional from Amsterdam\, the Netherlands \nHe started studying and specializing himself professionally in Japanese rope bondage (shibari\, kinbaku) in 1999. Over his career he studied in the land of the rising sun under the lineage of the late Akechi Denki (明智伝鬼) and Naka Akira (奈加あきら). RopeMarks’ work reflects the traditional techniques taught by these leading kinbakushi but is vastly complemented with his own distinct and unique style. \nHe is famous for his energetic performances in Japanese rope bondage in which he combines traditional kinbaku with his own\n\nWho is the Shady Lady? \nThe Shady Lady has regularly been on the receiving end of RopeMarks’ kinbaku for the past three years. They have been tying together for performances and workshops\, but mostly for fun (because they mainly enjoy each other’s company\, in- and outside of rope.) She also writes reflections on kinbaku from the model’s perspective on the RopeMarks website. \nShe likes her kinbaku to be playful\, romantic\, genuine\, fun and not overly complicated. If all of that takes place through a Japanese aesthetics lens\, with a mean and fun twist every now and then\, she is a very happy lady.\n\n\n\n \nEvent on Fetlife\n  \nRopeMarks Ryu | RopeMarks Shop | Telegram channel | Mailinglist | Contact | RopeMarks

SUMMARY:RopeMarks Ryu #2\, Kinbaku workshop\, suspensions on single point.
DESCRIPTION:You can sign up here! \nThe Workshop\nLevel: Strong beginner / Intermediate \, \nPrerequisite:\n    rigger: You are confident with a 2 TK/gote\, any style. A plus is knowing the RopeMarks style gote. You have a basic confidence with uplines on a single point.\n    model: You are able to recognize and communicate good/bad bodily sensations and are familiar with the differences between nerve and circulation impingement. You are  comfortable in a basic gote. A pre is experience being in full body ties. \nThis is a full-day workshop where you’ll learn both the art of suspending and being suspended. Suspensions are visually stunning and can be incredibly exhilarating\, but they do come with risks. Our aim is to equip you with essential knowledge and foster a safe\, shared experience\, empowering you to apply what you’ve learned once you return home. Therefore\, we emphasize safety\, technique\, and communication\, progressing your skills for takeoff. \nWe’ll prepare you for suspensions by focusing on several key aspects. First and foremost\, you’ll enhance your gote tying skills to ensure they are proficient and reliable. Next\, you’ll improve your uplines tying skills to ensure they meet the demands of your desired suspensions. Finally\, you’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of how forces act on the human body during suspensions\, keeping safety as a top priority throughout the process. \nIn Japanese rope bondage\, the gote is often the core of any suspension. In this workshop\, we will not only use gotes but also explore how the gote is a classic element of Japanese rope bondage and kinbaku. As this is the tradition taught by RopeMarks\, we find it crucial to start with the gote. During this initial part of the workshop\, we’ll use your gote tying and receiving skills to assess your general proficiency in Japanese rope bondage. As a famous kinbakushi once said: “Kinbaku begins and ends with a gote.” \nNext\, we’ll build on your knowledge of the gote and uplines\, guiding you through three full-body suspensions. During these sessions\, we’ll introduce several smaller ties to add variety\, fun and challenges to your suspensions. \nWe recognize that not everyone will have the same level of proficiency with tying or being in rope. Therefore\, we’ve designed this workshop to accommodate different skill levels\, allowing each tie to be performed at a pace that feels comfortable for you and your partner. Regardless of your starting point\, your skills will progress to the next level. By the end of this workshop\, both riggers and rope models will have advanced to an intermediate or strong intermediate skill level. \nRecommended precursor is our Ryu #1\, Kinbaku essentials workshop.\nRecommended follow up workshop is our Ryu #3\, Static and dynamic suspensions on bamboo. \nProgram\nTopics that we will address are: \n\nGote refresher\nUplines refresher\nThree full body gote-based suspensions\nA handful of smaller ties to have fun with during your suspensions\nAnatomy & safety\nCommunication\nRope handling\n\nEach topic will include safety information\, details to improve your rope handling\, specific techniques to improve your tying and to deepen the connection with your partner. During the workshop there’ll be plenty of room for experimenting and personal advice. \nThe Practicalities\n\nCome as a familiar rigger and model couple.\nPlease wear comfortable clothing.\nOur workshops are clothes on and non-sexual workshop\, but no doubt you’ll be inspired to bring your new skills into your private intimate play at home.\nFor the models: you’ll help your rigger by choosing a tight-fitting outfit.\nBring at least 8 pieces of rope\, ~8m in length\, 5-6mm thick.\nIt will be helpful to have a few shorter pieces\, i.e. 2m and 4m in your set.\nIf you need rope\, follow this link: https://ropemarks.com/rope/ .\nBring your suspension ring.\nIf you have none we will provide a carabiner hardpoint.\nBring at least 3 carabiners if you will be tying on a carabiner hardpoint.\nIt will be helpful to bring 6 carabiners.\nIf you need carabiners\, follow this link: https://ropemarks.com/carabiners/ .\nWe will take care of coffee\, tea and snacks.\nDrinking inside the dōjō is only allowed from a bottle/container that you can close.\nThis workshop will be held in the Dutch language\, but if needed we switch to English.\nPlease also see our  FAQ .\n\n \nI want to participate\nGreat! SUMMARY:RopeMarks Ryu #1\, Kinbaku essentials workshop.
DESCRIPTION:You can sign up here! \nThe Workshop\nLevel: Beginner / strong beginner\nPrerequisite:\n  rigger: single column ties\, double column ties and frictions are your bread and butter (these will not be explained anymore).\n  model: you are able to recognize and communicate good/bad bodily sensations. . \nThis full-day workshop aims to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge to practice safe\, sane\, and consensual kinbaku. Our goal is to help you create a safe and shared experience that will empower you to continue applying what you’ve learned once you return home. \nThe gote is a classic element of traditional Japanese bondage\, known as kinbaku. Since RopeMarks adheres to and teaches this tradition\, we prioritize imparting the techniques and knowledge required for tying your model’s arms behind their back in the gote style. There’s no single “correct” gote; the best one is the one that suits your model. We believe almost everyone can be comfortable in a gote-based tie. \nDuring this workshop\, you’ll be tying on a carabiner/ring. There are various ways to tie off uplines\, but which method do you choose and when? We will guide you through several exercises to help you understand these choices. \nNext\, we’ll apply the knowledge of the gote and uplines to three floor ties\, progressively making them more intricate. Along the way\, we’ll introduce you to a variety of smaller ties for added fun. \nBy the end of this workshop\, both riggers and rope models will have advanced to a solid beginner/intermediate skill level. \nRecommended precursor workshop is our Ryu #0\, kinbaku foundations workshop.\nRecommended follow up workshop is our Ryu #2\, Kinbaku workshop\, suspensions on single point. \nProgram\nTopics that we will address are: \n\nGote bootcamp\nUplines\nThree full body gote-based ties with uplines\nA handful of smaller ties to have fun with during your suspensions\nAnatomy & safety\nCommunication\nRope handling\n\nEach topic will include safety information\, details to improve your rope handling\, specific techniques to improve your tying and to deepen the connection with your partner. SUMMARY:RopeMarks Ryu #0\, Kinbaku foundations workshop
DESCRIPTION:You can sign up here! \nThe Workshop\nLevel: Starter.\nPrerequisite: None. \nAre you ready to dive into the world of rope? This workshop is your starting point to building your solid base. During this workshop we will take you step-by-step through the foundation of kinbaku\, traditional Japanese rope bondage. You’ll learn how to fluently tie arms\, legs\, and how to combine different ties to play with the full body. \nThe ties we choose will help you to understand how you can use ‘frictions’ and other techniques to create the effect that you want. Which posture and sensations do you want to give your model? How do you do this in a way that looks aesthetic to you and how do you make sure that safety comes first? You’ll notice that this workshop will help you to improve your rope handling and your feeling for tying in general. Since everything we practice is suited for both pain and pleasure we’ll of course also pay attention to communication and all kinds of dynamics during play. \nIf you come to this workshop as a model\, you get to experience ties on most body parts. This is a great opportunity to find out what you like and what you don’t like and to communicate with your rigger about the physical and mental effects of the tying process. This is a very important skill since the collaboration between the two of you decides how your play scene unfolds in terms of safety\, sexiness\, fun\, depth\, or whatever it is that you want to get out of your rope time! \nYou’ll come home with a solid Japanese rope bondage foundation and the skill to safe and playfully combine essential kinbaku elements.\nAfter this workshop the skill level of rigger and rope model will have grown to beginner. \nRecommended follow up workshop is our Ryu #1\, Kinbaku essentials workshop. \nProgram\nTopics that we will address are: \n\nRope & usage\nAnatomy & safety\nSingle & double column ties\nIchinawa (one rope techniques)\nPlayful ties\nFutomomo (‘fat leg’)\nCrotch rope(s) for all genders\nFull body harness\nUnexpected ties for the arms\nKnots and frictions\nUntying\nCommunication\n\nEach topic will include safety information\, details to improve your rope handling\, specific techniques to improve your tying and to deepen the connection with your partner. During the workshop there’ll be plenty of room for experimenting and personal advice. \nThe topics are aimed at kinbaku foundations but we can go deeper into technicalities or broaden our horizon if the level of the participants and the available time makes this possible. \nThe Practicalities\n\nCome as a familiar rigger and model couple.\nPlease wear comfortable clothing.\nOur workshops are clothes on and non-sexual workshop\, but no doubt you’ll be inspired to bring your new skills into your private intimate play at home.\nFor the models: you’ll help your rigger by choosing a tight-fitting outfit.\nBring at least 6 pieces of rope\, ~8m in length\, 6mm thick.\nIf you need rope\, follow this link: https://ropemarks.com/rope/ .\nWe have coffee\, tea and some snacks. SUMMARY:RopeMarks’ Kinbaku Essentials; Immersion workshop.
DESCRIPTION:You can sign up here! \nThe Workshop\nThis is a clothes on\, non-sexual workshop\, but no doubt you’ll be inspired to bring your new skills into your private intimate play at home. \nLevel: Starter. \nPrerequisite: None. \nAre you ready to dive into the world of rope? This workshop is your starting point to building a solid base. During this workshop we will take you step-by-step through the essentials of kinbaku\, traditional Japanese rope bondage. \nYou’ll come home with a solid Japanese rope bondage foundation and the skill to safe and playfully combine essential kinbaku elements. \nProgram\nTopics that we will address are: \n\nRope & usage\nSingle & double column ties\nIchinawa (one rope techniques)\nPlayful ties\nFutomomo (‘fat leg’)\nCrotch rope(s) for all genders\nFull body harness\nUnexpected ties for the arms\nKnots and frictions\nUntying\nAnatomy & safety\nCommunication\n\nEach topic will include safety information\, details to improve your rope handling\, specific techniques to improve your tying and to deepen the connection with your partner. During the workshop there’ll be plenty of room for experimenting and personal advice. \nThe topics are aimed at kinbaku essentials but we can go deeper into technicalities or broaden our horizon if the level of the participants and the available time makes this possible. \nThe Practicalities\n\nCome as a familiar rigger and model couple.\nPlease wear comfortable clothing.\nFor the models: you’ll help your rigger by choosing a tight-fitting outfit.\nBring at least 6 pieces of rope\, 8m in length\, 6mm thick.\nIf you need rope\, follow this link: https://ropemarks.com/rope/ .\nWe have coffee\, tea and some snacks. If you want something else to drink or eat bring it in a bottle/container that you can close.\nThis workshop will be held in the Dutch language\, but if needed we switch to English.\nPlease also see our  FAQ .\n\n \nI want to participate\nGreat! SUMMARY:RopeMarks’ Kinbaku Dirty Ties; Immersion workshop.

A pre is experience being in full body ties. \n  \nDirty ties are ties that are challenging\, intense and/or sexual. SUMMARY:Pinse Camp\, Denmark
DESCRIPTION:RopeMarks and the Shady Lady are excited to be present at the Pinse Camp of 2024! \nWe are very excited about this\, we love seeing new places\, sharing our experience and knowledge on kinbaku (did you know RopeMarks has been tying professionally for 24 years and counting?) and we love to spend our time doing a lot of good ol’ rope bondage in a supportive community. \nFor the upcoming Pinse Camp\, we will teach two full day workshops aimed at the intermediate level. Our intention is that after these two days your rope and kinbaku tying and bottoming skills have leveled up technically\, theoretically and in terms of playfulness and an overall positive rope experience!  \nWe will cover the RopeMarks’ ryū style of some essential Kinbaku Elements™ such as: the takate gote\, armbinder\, agura and whatnot. These elements will be incorporated in surprising suspensions and transitions. In addition\, we will include small Kinbaku Elements™ such as mouth rope\, hair ties\, guatemalan\, neck ties and whatnot that help you get more playful\, creative and mean in your play. Lastly\, we will bamboozle you with at least one of RopeMarks’ suspension sequences that incorporates tying with bamboo!  \nWe will be tying on bamboo and you will need at least 12 pieces of rope intended for Japanese rope bondage. Most ties and exercises are set up for you to follow along at your current level of tying or being tied but we encourage and support you to follow along with the full sequences\, push your comfort zone and level up. \n  \nPrerequisites for riggers (r) and models (m): \n\n\nBe confident with a safe takate gote that works for you and your partner\, preferably RopeMarks’ style gote \n\n\nBe able to communicate with and check in regularly with your partner  \n\n\nBe aware of the mental and physical capabilities and limitations of you and your partner  \n\n\nHave a basic understanding of the fact that rope bondage is edgeplay and of the main risks involved\, e.g. nerve damage  \n\n\nPreferably have some experience with basic suspensions  \n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho’s RopeMarks? \nRopeMarks\, also known as Bob Roos\, is a Dutch rope artist who specializes in Japanese rope bondage\, also known as shibari or kinbaku. Professionally he began studying and perfecting his craft in 1999\, under the lineage of the late Akechi Denki (明智伝鬼) and Naka Akira (奈加あきら) in Japan. While RopeMarks’ work reflects the traditional techniques taught by these leading kinbakushi\, he has also developed his own unique and distinct style. \nRopeMarks is widely recognized as the foremost Dutch expert in Japanese rope bondage\, and is highly respected in the global kinbaku community. He has taught workshops and classes around the world including\, but not limited to\, Europe\, the United States\, Russia and Japan. Using the name RopeMarks Ryū he provides real\, fun\, hands-on\, courses\, classes\, lessons and workshops in Japanese rope bondage worldwide. \n\n\nWho is the Shady Lady? \nThe Shady Lady is a slightly perverted lady who has been tying regularly with RopeMarks for the past 2\,5 years\, and her passion for being in rope is still growing each day. She sees rope as a means to surrender to her partner (and to herself)\, to enter an erotic and sensual realm\, to push mental boundaries and to discover what exists inside of her beyond the everyday experience of the self. \nAlthough both partners have different experiences in a rope session\, a good session for her creates a spark that moves beyond these individual experiences (1+1=3). She likes Japanese aesthetics\, authentic dynamics between rope partners\, other BDSM elements mixed with rope\, fun and laughter during tying as well as the darker desires that can be expressed by rope (and no\, the latter two are not as contradictory as they sound!). \n\n\n\n\n  \n  \nWhat is the teaching style of the RopeMarks Ryū? \nThere are a few characteristics that are typical for RopeMarks’ style of teaching and tying:  \n\n\nTeaching is built around Kinbaku Elements™: patterns\, positions and techniques you can use as essential building blocks to construct your ties and be creative and original while doing it. \n\n\nRopeMarks’ style is heavily inspired by Japanese bakushi (mainly Naka Akira 奈加あきら and Akechi Denki 明智伝鬼) and builds on traditional techniques and aesthetics. Yet\, he never simply copies and pastes. He always creates his own interpretation based on the predecessors that inspire him. We will therefore provide you with historical context and background behind certain Kinbaku Elements. The motto is: know and honor history (the ones who went before you) to shape the future of your rope experiences! \n\n\nMost exercises are built up in a way so that participants can practice at their own level. Stay on the floor\, go for the suspension or join us for multiple transitions. We will also offer smaller elements that allow you to make a tie more or less challenging.  \n\n\nUnderstanding the reasons for why you make certain choices when tying and bottoming is extremely important\, and we are not a fan of a ‘monkey-see-monkey-do’ approach. Our teaching thus focuses on discussing the pros and cons of the choices made while tying. Understanding the reasoning behind your actions stimulates a more safe\, sane\, informed\, critical\, personal and consensual attitude in riggers and rope bottoms.  \n\n\nKinbaku is a means and not an end\, meaning that we focus on what intentions both parties have and on pragmatic techniques that can be used to embody those intentions to create a pleasurable experience. RopeMarks and the Shady Lady personally like their kinbaku to be playful\, erotic\, aesthetically pleasing\, challenging and slightly dirty and perverted. \n\n\nActive and responsible rope bottoming is a skill that does not always get the attention it deserves. The Shady Lady focuses on how rope bottoms can develop their bottoming skills: how they can distinguish between bad and good kinds of pain\, how they can communicate effectively with their rigger\, how they can critically think along with the rigger on how ties can work best for their body and how they can find out what kind of rope they like to receive. It always takes two to tango!  \n\n\n  \nRopeMarks Ryu | RopeMarks Shop | Mailinglist | Contact | RopeMarks

SUMMARY:Bamboo\, in all its glorious (dis)pleasure for Kinbaku Studio\, Vienna
DESCRIPTION:RopeMarks and the Shady Lady are very excited to pay a visit to Vienna for a weekend filled with tying with bamboo\, bamboo and have we already mentioned… bamboo? \nAfter two days of doing this workshop\, we anticipate (and hope) that your tying and bottoming skills have leveled up in terms of theory\, technique and dynamics with your rope partner. Most likely you will go home feeling inspired by what we have practiced\, and take an enriched rope toolbox with you for your future tying adventures. \nDuring the workshop we will start with bamboo basics\, such as what knots to use when tying onto bamboo\, as well as Kinbaku Elements™ to tie arms\, legs and wrists to bamboo. Following we will incorporate these elements in some static and dynamic suspensions. Finally\, for the grand finale of this workshop\, we will go through some suspension kata (sequences) that incorporate floating bamboo. We will incorporate some dirty elements throughout the workshop: dirty in the sense of sexy\, but also in the sense of nasty or mean. Let’s make kinbaku dirty again! \nNext to tying with ‘extra’ bamboo\, we will also be tying on bamboo (so\, not on a single point). Most ties and exercises are set up for you to follow along at your current level\, but we will encourage and support you to join for the full kata’s\, to go beyond your comfort zone and level up! At the bottom of this text we describe some general characteristics of RopeMarks’ and the Shady Lady’s teaching and tying style\, so you can decide whether that resonates with your own rope style and desires in rope. \nYou will need at least 12 pieces of rope intended for Japanese rope bondage. \n  \nRigger/model partners interested in joining the workshop should: \n\nBe confident in a takategote that works for them\, preferably RopeMarks’ style gote.\nBe confident in a futumomo that works for them.\nHave experience and confidence with basic suspensions.\nPreferably have experience with suspension transitions.\nShare our view that rope bondage is edgeplay and comes with major risks\, and have a general understanding of what these risks are and how they can best be mitigated.\nBe able to communicate with and check in regularly with their partner.\nBe aware of the mental/physical capabilities/limits of themselves and their partner.\n\n  \n\n\n\nWho’s RopeMarks? Using the name RopeMarks Ryū he provides real\, fun\, hands-on\, courses\, classes\, lessons and workshops in Japanese rope bondage worldwide.\nWho is the Shady Lady? \nThe Shady Lady is a slightly perverted lady who has been tying regularly with RopeMarks for the past 2\,5 years\, and her passion for being in rope is still growing each day. She sees rope as a means to surrender to her partner (and to herself)\, to enter a shared space of hyperfocus and eroticism with her partner\, to play\, to push mental boundaries and to discover what exists inside of her beyond the everyday experience of the self. \nAlthough both partners have separate experiences in a rope session\, a good session for her creates a spark that moves beyond these individual experiences (1+1=3). She likes Japanese aesthetics\, semenawa\, authentic dynamics between rope partners\, BDSM elements mixed with rope\, fun and laughter during tying as well as the darker desires that can be expressed in rope (and no\, the latter two are not as contradictory as they sound!).\n\n\n\n  \nWhat is the teaching style of the RopeMarks Ryū? \nThere are a few characteristics that are typical for RopeMarks’ style of teaching and tying:  \n\nTeaching is built around Kinbaku Elements™: patterns\, positions and techniques you can use as essential building blocks to construct your ties and be creative and original while doing it.\nRopeMarks’ tying style is heavily inspired by Japanese bakushi (mainly Naka Akira 奈加あきら and Akechi Denki 明智伝鬼) and builds further on traditional techniques and aesthetics. Yet\, he never simply copies and pastes\, but creates his own ties based on ties and bakushi that inspire him. He will therefore pay ample attention to historical context and background behind certain Kinbaku Elements™. The motto is: know and honor history to shape the future of your rope experiences!\nMost exercises are built up in a way so that participants can practice at their own level. Stay on the floor\, go for the suspension or join us for multiple dynamic transitions. We will also offer smaller elements that allow you to make a tie more or less challenging. \nReflection on the reasons for why you make certain choices in tying and modeling is extremely important. We are not a fan of a ‘monkey-see-monkey-do’ approach\, which is why we focus on discussing the pros and cons of the choices that always have to be made during the tying process. Actively thinking about the “why’s” in rope stimulates a more safe\, sane\, well-informed\, sustainable\, critical\, personalized and consensual attitude in riggers and models alike.\nKinbaku is a means and not an end. We encourage focusing on the intentions of both parties and on pragmatic techniques for embodying those intentions to create a satisfying experience for both parties.\nActive and responsible rope bottoming is a skill that does not always get the attention it deserves. \nRopeMarks likes to tie dirty\, which means that he likes to tie in ways that ask for endurance from the model (semenawa)\, as well as that he likes to incorporate sexual and BDSM elements in tying. RopeMarks and the Shady Lady personally like their kinbaku to be playful\, dynamic\, erotic\, aesthetically pleasing\, challenging and slightly dirty and perverted.\n\n  \n \n  \nRopeMarks Ryu | RopeMarks Shop | Mailinglist | Contact | RopeMarks

SUMMARY:Kinbaku Talks by RopeMarks & the Shady Lady @ Kinbaku Studio\, Vienna
DESCRIPTION:RopeMarks has been tying professionally for almost 25 years. He has done performances\, demonstrations\, photo shoots\, video shoots and workshops in a wide range of contexts: at fetish and BDSM parties\, at international rope events\, at people’s homes and at times in more ‘vanilla’ settings as well. You name it\, and he has most likely done it at least once! Most of his time is spent in his hometown Amsterdam\, but he was also lucky to travel all over Europe\, the USA\, Moscow and to Japan for kinbaku\, just like he was invited to come to Vienna for this weekend. \nOne thing that RopeMarks has rarely done\, however\, is to simply sit down and talk about his experiences\, ideas and philosophies on kinbaku beyond the technicalities of how to tie (which we will focus on during this weekend’s workshop). The Shady Lady has often been at the receiving end of these stories\, which made her realize it would be a shame if these stories are not shared with a wider audience of kinbaku lovers. That is the aim of this evening: to have an open and informal talk with you about kinbaku\, shibari\, semenawa\, more and everything related to it\, based on your questions. RopeMarks will also share some stories from his rope career and what he has learned throughout it. He does not claim to have ‘all the answers’ or to present an ultimate truth about kinkabu\, but simply wants to speak from his own perspective and experiences. \nIf you have any questions or curiosities you would like us to discuss\, please send them to us at least two weeks (7 March) before the talk\, so we have time to think about your questions in advance! To give you some ideas\, these can be questions (amongst other topics) about RopeMarks’ rope career\, how his views and skills have changed over time\, his perspectives on what ‘good’ rope is\, on kinbaku\, semenawa\, riggers he is inspired by\, common mistakes he observes\, his style and preferences in rope\, about the Shady Lady’s perspective on rope as a model\, etc\, etc…. We are looking forward to seeing your interests and curiosities! \nAfter the talk\, there will be a short rope performance with the Shady Lady to kick off the rope jam that follows! \n  \n \n  \nRopeMarks Ryu | RopeMarks Shop | Mailinglist | Contact | RopeMarks

SUMMARY:RopeMarks’ Kinbaku Suspensions #2; Immersion workshop.
DESCRIPTION:You can sign up here! \nThe Workshop\nLevel: Intermediate / strong intermediate\, \nPrerequisite:\n    rigger: You are confident with a gote\, any style. A plus is knowing the RopeMarks style gote. You know how to safely perform a basic suspension. A plus is experience with dynamic suspensions and transitions.\n    model: You are able to recognize and communicate good/bad bodily sensations and are familiar with the differences between nerve and circulation impingement. You are comfortable in a basic gote. A plus is experience being suspended in basic suspensions. \nThis is a full day workshop in which you will learn to do and be in dynamic suspensions. We will teach you the noble art of transitioning in suspensions. Suspensions in general\, dynamic suspensions even more so\, are never without risk. Our goal with this workshop is to provide you with the essential knowledge and create a safe\, shared experience that will empower you to carry forward what you’ve learned once you return home. Therefore the emphasis will be on safety\, technique and communication. If you have followed our previous workshop(s) before you will be refreshed\, renewed and we will progress your skill for dynamic suspensions. \nWithin Japanese rope bondage the gote is generally at the heart of any suspension. In this workshop we will not only use gote’s but see how the gote is a classic part of Japanese rope bondage and kinbaku. This is the tradition RopeMarks teaches in\, so we find it important to start with gote. During this brief start of the workshop we will use your skill in tying a gote and being in a gote to assess your general proficiency with Japanese rope bondage. As a famous kinbakushi once said: “kinbaku begins and ends with a gote.” \nFor this workshop you will be tying on bamboo and there are many ways to tie (off) uplines\, but which way do you choose when and why? We’ll continue the workshop by taking you through various exercises to help you really understand this. \nAfter this introduction we go through four full body dynamic suspensions during which we will shower you with a handful of smaller ties to have fun with during your suspensions and transitions. \nFrom experience we know that not everybody will have the same proficiency with tying or being in rope. Therefore we designed this workshop so that each of the ties can be done at the level that you as a couple are or feel comfortable with. This might mean that sometimes you can follow the whole suspension sequence without a problem\, whereas sometimes you might choose to only follow along during the first position(s). Either way your skill will be progressed to the next level. \nTo make sure you have to recommend skills and knowledge please consider following our suspensions #1. \nProgram\nTopics that we will address are: \n\nUplines for bamboo\nFour full body dynamic suspensions (more if we have the time)\nA handful of smaller ties to have fun with during your suspensions\nAnatomy & safety\nCommunication\nRope handling\n\nEach topic will include safety information\, details to improve your rope handling\, specific techniques to improve your tying and to deepen the connection with your partner. During the workshop there’ll be plenty of room for experimenting and personal advice. \nThe Practicalities\n\nCome as a familiar rigger and model couple.\nWear comfortable clothing.\nThis is a clothes on\, non-sexual workshop\, but no doubt you’ll be inspired to bring your new skills into your private intimate play at home.\nBring at least 12 pieces of rope\, 8m in length\, 6mm thick.\nIf you need rope\, follow this link: https://ropemarks.com/rope/ .\n(at this level you need your own set\, no more borrowing)\n\n\nWe will take care of coffee\, tea and snacks.\nDrinking inside the dōjō is only allowed from a bottle/container that you can close.\nThis workshop will be held in the Dutch language\, but if needed we switch to English.\nPlease also see our  FAQ .\n\n \nI want to participate\nGreat!
SUMMARY:Workshop\, Kinbaku immersion\, Suspensions #2
Either way your skill will be progressed to the next leve \nTo make sure you have to recommend skills and knowledge please consider following our suspensions #1. SUMMARY:Kinbaku workshops & performance for Lyon Shibari
DESCRIPTION:Participate in an intense and exclusive Workshop with RopeMarks (Bob) and Spring\, professional educators from Amsterdam! \nRead on or get your tickets here. \n  \nAbout The Workshop\nBob (RopeMarks) from Amsterdam is one of the few Western riggers who’s still very much rooted in traditional kinbaku. In this two day workshop he will inspire you with his technical skills\, speedy tying and creativity. His main focus as a teacher is helping you to really understand the way of\, your\, rope. What do you want to achieve\, why\, and what are your options to get there in a safe way? In the end: understanding the way (and your own way) of rope\, is the best way to become more self secure and creative. \nBob will challenge all the participants – both riggers and models – on their own level. This means you can improve your skills both on the floor as up in the air. This means that the floorwork exercises will be just as interesting as suspensions with transitions. RopeMarks’ work reflects the traditional techniques taught by these leading kinbakushi but is vastly complemented with his own distinct and unique style. \nHe is famous for his energetic performances in Japanese rope bondage in which he combines traditional kinbaku with his own distinct and unique style\, often at incredible speed. With RopeMarks on stage\, you will for sure be entertained by dynamic suspensions\, a touch of torture and a sense of humor. \nHe is passionate about sharing his knowledge about kinbaku and shibari in fun and hands-on workshops. Rope fascinated her from the beginning and after her first experience she was hooked. She started experimenting with rope and BDSM in her private life and gradually moved towards experimenting and modeling in front of the camera and on stage\, satisfying her exhibisionistic streak. \nAs a rope bunny\, Spring loves being seriously challenged. She experiences (slow) suffering as a sexy and sensual way to a deeper connection in which she can totally surrender. Apart from the physical interaction\, she loves the impact of nonverbal communication. \n  \n \n \nRopeMarks | Spring | Lyon Shibari \n

SUMMARY:Workshop\, Kinbaku Floorwork #2
DESCRIPTION:When: Sun. 2 Apr. 2023\nStart time: 14:00 – 18.00\nLocation: Amsterdam (West)\nPrice: €110 / couple\nPrerequisite: The rigger must be able to tie a safe single- and double column tie \nPlease sign up with the partner you’ll be tying with. You can sign up here! \nThe Workshop\nJust like Floorwork 1 this workshop is focused on dynamics during your playtime on the mat. The ties that we’ll play with in Floorwork 2 are a bit more challenging though\, since we’ll start adding up lines. There are so many options so this is going to be fun! \nThis workshop is suitable for both beginners++ and intermediate riggers. If you’re able to tie a single and double column tie and have some basic understanding of how frictions work\, you’ll be sure to come along. For models: experience is always welcome\, but your willingness to communicate is the most important. \nThe introduction of uplines:\nAs said\, an important ingredient of this workshop will be: uplines. Although we’re staying on the floor and each of the ties can be done without uplines\, we will start adding some extra 3D-dynamics to your play. For riggers this is an opportunity to improve their skills. How do you work with tensions? And how can you add some body manipulation? Of course you’ll also learn to tie your uplines off in different and safe ways. \nModeling skills:\nPracticing with uplines is integrated in a few interesting whole body ties that invite rigger and model to interact\, play and communicate. On many people’s request we’ll blend in more time to talk about the psychological effect of this kind of play and on modeling skills. We encourage models to be present with what’s going on\, to explore your likes and dislikes in rope and to give your rigger valuable feedback. It’s always teamwork to create the most fulfilling scenes for both rigger and model. Based on kinbaku (traditional Japanese bondage) you can make it as beautiful\, sexy\, creative and fun as you want. All in a safe way. \nFor who\nThis workshop is for you if you want to take your basic kinbaku skills to the next level by mastering new technical skills and gaining more insight in why you tie the way you tie. \nThis is a clothes on\, non-sexual workshop\, but no doubt you’ll be inspired to bring your new skills into your private intimate play at home. Please wear comfortable clothing. For the models: you’ll help your rigger by choosing a tight-fitting outfit. \nThe practicalities\nPlease come as a rigger and bunny couple. \nBring at least 6 pieces of rope\, 8m in length\, 6mm thick. \nPlease also see our  FAQ. \nIf you need rope\, follow this link: https://ropemarks.com/rope/ \nWe have coffee and tea. SUMMARY:Workshop\, Getting comfy with the Gote.
DESCRIPTION:When: Sun. 12 Mar. 2023\nStart time: 14:00 – 18.00\nLocation: Amsterdam (West)\nPrice: €110 / couple\nPrerequisites: Tying a single and double column tie using a square knot is no problem for you. \nAbout the gote and the workshop\nProbably the most famous element of traditional Japanese bondage (kinbaku) is the gote. Basically ‘taketekote’ means: hands behind the back. The reason why this tie is so important is because the unwritten rule is that each kinbaku sessions starts with the hands being tied and historically this is behind the back. And although there are many technical gote recipes out there\, there’s no such thing as ‘the’ gote. Or the ‘best’ gote. What the best gote is\, will always depends on your intention for the play and on your own preferences for technique and aesthetics. \nOne gote style and endless variations\nNow\, to get both you and your bunny comfy with the gote\, I’ll teach you a version of the gote that I use the most. It’s a stemless version that is safe for floorwork and suspensions. \nTying your gote:\nAlthough at first sight a gote may seem simple\, it’s rather the opposite. Each body is different\, you have to think ahead for which purpose you want to build the gote and there are many details to focus on. Where do you place your rope and why? How do you keep tension on the rope\, how can you make adjustments? How can you play with aesthetics and of course: how do you connect and communicate with your model before\, during and after play? \nTo keep the workshop dynamic and playful we’ll also play with some interesting leg bondages that can be combined with the gote. This way you can immediately start experimenting with connecting the upper and lower body. Get ready for some fun in action! \nModelling skills:\nIf you come to this workshop as a model\, you get to experience ties on most body parts. This is a great opportunity to find out what you like and what you don’t like and to communicate with your rigger about the physical and mental effects of the tying process. Body awareness and communication are very important\, since – especially with the gote – you might experience a lack of blood flow or nerves being hit. It’s important that you’re able to recognize and communicate both\, so you and your rigger can make adjustments in time. The collaboration between both of you decides how your play scene unfolds in terms of safety\, sexiness\, fun\, depth\, or whatever it is that you want to get out of your rope time! \n\nHere are some examples of ushiro taketekote and gote variations: \n\nWhat this workshop is not about\nThis is not a suspension workshop. I will show you briefly how to proceed from the gote to attaching the 4th rope that you need for suspensions\, but\, my vision is that you should first be completely comfortable with tying and untying the gote in floorwork. If you feel ready for a next step\, you’re welcome to sign up for my follow up workshops. \nFor who?\nThis course is for you if tying a single and double column tie using a square knot is not a problem\, but also if you want to refresh and solidify your kinbaku foundation. \nThis is a clothes on\, non-sexual workshop\, but no doubt you’ll be inspired to bring your new skills into your private intimate play at home. Please wear comfortable clothing. For the models: you’ll help your rigger by choosing a tight-fitting outfit. \nProgram\nTopics that we will address are: \n\nGote without stem\,\nGote with stem\,\nFloorwork\,\nRope handling\,\nTension\,\nFlow\,\nUntying\,\nAnatomy & safety\,\nCommunication.\n\nEach topic will include safety information\, details to improve your rope handling\, specific techniques to improve your tying\, tension\, flow and to deepen the connection with your partner. During the workshop there’ll be plenty of room for experimenting and personal advice. \nThe topics are aimed at kinbaku foundations and can be upscaled when the level of the participants and the available time allows for this. SUMMARY:Workshop\, Kinbaku Essentials #2
DESCRIPTION:When: Sun. 12 Feb. 2023\nStart time: 14:00 – 18.00\nLocation: Amsterdam (West)\nPrice: €110 / couple\nPrerequisite: Riggers must be able to tie a single and double column tie \nThe Workshop\nSo you started out with the basics; you can tie (or be tied) in a safe way with a single column tie and a double column tie. These are the basics we will continue to build on in this Essentials #2 workshop. \nIn this Essentials #2 workshop riggers will be expanding their skills by practicing ties like a (suspendible) futomomo (‘fat leg’)\, a crotch rope and a full body harness. The ties we choose will help you to understand how you can use ‘frictions’ and other techniques to create the effect that you want. Which posture and sensations do you want to give your model? How do you do this in a way that looks aesthetic to you and how do you make sure that safety comes first. You’ll notice that this workshop will help you to improve your rope handling and your feeling for tying in general. Since everything we practice is suited for both pain and pleasure\, we’ll of course also pay attention to communication and all kinds of dynamics during play. \nProgram\nTopics that we will address are: \n\nFutomomo (‘fat leg’)\nCrotch rope(s) for all genders\nFull body harness\nUnexpected ties for the arms\nKnots and frictions\nUntying\nAnatomy & safety\nCommunication\n\nEach topic will include safety information\, details to improve your rope handling\, specific techniques to improve your tying and to deepen the connection with your partner. During the workshop there’ll be plenty of room for experimenting and personal advice. \nThe topics are aimed at kinbaku essentials but we can go deeper into technicals or broaden our horizon if the level of the participants and the available time makes this possible. \nThe practicalities\nPlease come as a rigger and bunny couple. \nBring at least 4 pieces of rope\, 8m in length\, 6mm thick. \nPlease also see our  FAQ. \nIf you need rope\, follow this link: https://ropemarks.com/rope/ \nWe take care of coffee and tea. If you want something else to drink\, please bring it in a bottle/container that you can close. \nThis workshop will be held in the Dutch language\, but if needed we switch to English. \nShould you like to participate but need a partner (model of rigger) please see our FAQ. \n \nI want to participate\nGreat! You can always replace yourself for another couple\, you will then be fully refunded. When you need to cancel for COVID-19 reasons I will do some calculations after the workshop and when I keep getting out of the costs when refunding you in full\, I’ll do that. \nIf the cancellation comes from me you will be fully refunded. \n \nQuestions?\nWe have compiled a list\, FAQ\, of the most common questions. SUMMARY:Workshop\, Kinbaku Floorwork #2
DESCRIPTION:When: 30 Oct. 2022\, from 14.00 – 18.00.\nLevel: Beginner++\, Intermediate\nPrerequisite: The rigger must be able to tie a safe single- and double column tie\nLocation: Amsterdam (Nieuw West).\nCosts: € 95\,- per couple (model and rigger). \nPlease sign up with the partner you’ll be tying with. You can sign up here! \nThe Workshop\nJust like Floorwork #1 this workshop is focused on dynamics during playtime on the mat. There are so many options and you’re gonna have so much fun! The ties that we’ll play with in this workshop might be a bit more challenging than the ties of Floorwork #1\, but if you’re able to tie a single and double column tie and if you have some basic understanding of how frictions work\, you’ll for sure be able to come along. \nIn this workshop we encourage riggers to find a good balance between focusing on their tying and focusing on the person in their rope. In the same way we encourage models to be present with what’s going on\, to explore their likes and dislikes in rope and to give their riggers valuable feedback. What works for your body and what doesn’t? Developing these skills will help you as a couple to co-create the kind of play that you like. \nBased on kinbaku (traditional Japanese bondage) you can make it as beautiful\, sexy\, creative and fun as you want. And of course: all in a safe way. \nAfter this workshop you’ll have loads of inspiration to continue playing and exploring back home. \nThis is a clothes on\, non-sexual workshop\, but no doubt you’ll be inspired to bring your new skills into your private intimate play at home. Please wear comfortable clothing and for the bunnies choose a tight-fitting outfit. SUMMARY:Workshop\, Kinbaku Essentials #2
DESCRIPTION:When: Sun. 23 Oct. 2022\nStart time: 13:00 – 17.00\nPrerequisite: Riggers must be able to tie a single and double column tie\nLocation: Amsterdam (East)\nPrice: €95 / couple \nPlease sign up with the partner you’ll be tying with. You can sign up here! \nThe Workshop\nSo you started out with the basics; you can tie (or be tied) in a safe way with a single column tie and a double column tie. SUMMARY:Workshop\, Kinbaku Exploring armbinders
DESCRIPTION:When: Sun. 24 Sep. 2022\nStart time: 10:00 – 17.00\nLevel: Intermediate\nLocation: Shibari Lounge\, Antwerp\nPrice: €180 / couple \nIn the weekend of September 24/25 RopeMarks will host two workshops in the Shibari Lounge\, Antwerp. For those who don’t know RopeMarks: Bob is a professional rigger of 23+ years who is at home in kinbaku (traditional Japanese bondage) like no other. He is known for his vast knowledge and creativity and in his workshops he inspires you to understand what you are doing to shape your own play. His model Spring likes to challenge him in a playful way and shares her experience & tips as a model. \nPlease sign up with the partner you’ll be tying with. You can sign up here! \nThe Workshop\nWe are going to work with armbinders\, elbow bondage and strappados. In other words: different ways to tie the arms behind the back and work with exposure of the front of the body. We then process the used ties into full body bondages\, including an agura and ebi. With these ties we take to the skies for suspensions with transitions. It will be a great workshop with technical\, physical and mental challenges for both rigger and model. \nProgram\nTopics that we will address are: \n\nArmbinders\, elbow bondage & strappados\nAgura & ebi\nSuspensions\nTransitions\nUntying\nAnatomy & safety\nCommunication\n\nEach topic will include safety information\, details to improve your rope handling\, specific techniques to improve your tying and to deepen the connection with your partner. During the workshop there’ll be plenty of room for experimenting and personal advice. \nThe practicalities\nPlease come as a rigger and bunny couple. \nBring at least 12 pieces of rope\, 8m in length\, 6mm thick. \nPlease also see our  FAQ. \nIf you need rope\, follow this link: https://ropemarks.com/rope/ \nThis workshop will be held in the Dutch language\, but if needed we switch to English. \nShould you like to participate but need a partner (model of rigger) please see our FAQ. \n \nI want to participate\nGreat! SUMMARY:Workshop\, Kinbaku Essentials #2
DESCRIPTION:When: Sun. 7 Aug. 2022\nStart time: 14:00 – 18.00\nPrerequisite: Riggers must be able to tie a single and double column tie\nLocation: Amsterdam (Nieuw West)\nPrice: €95 / couple \nPlease sign up with the partner you’ll be tying with. You can sign up here! \nThe Workshop\nSo you started out with the basics; you can tie (or be tied) in a safe way with a single column tie and a double column tie. The combination of the couple\, MF\, MM\, FF\, is of no concern. If you like to participate but need a partner\, model or rigger\, the internet offers ways to connect you. One way that we know we know that works is to place an advertisement in the “Bondage partners Nederland” or “Bondage workshop matchmaking” group on FetLife. If you don’t know FetLife it’s the Facebook for kinksters. \nCan we switch?Bob Roos2022-03-24T09:07:06+01:00Can we switch? We do not prohibit switching during the workshop but we do not recommend it. When switching is possible we will specifically mention this in the workshop description. \nIs the workshop price per couple or per person?Bob Roos2023-12-02T08:04:22+01:00Is the workshop price per couple or per person? When you register for one of the RopeMarks workshops you purchase a ticket for a couple.  A couple can be any combination of two people of any gender. \nHow long should my rope be?Bob Roos2025-11-05T15:25:42+01:00How long should my rope be?For Japanese style bondage the general consensus is to use rope that is approximately 8m long. This is not a hard number (something we will address in our workshops) and you can vary as needed. If you tie a bigger body you might have benefit to use a slightly longer rope (8-8.5m) and if you tie a small body you might benefit from a shorter rope (7.5-8m)\, ymmv. My personal set has ropes of 8.5m. \nI need to cancel\, how will I be refunded?Bob Roos2025-09-15T21:00:18+02:00I need to cancel\, how will I be refunded? If you need to cancel please contact us asap via workshop@ropemarks.com. \nWhen we replace you for another couple you will be fully refunded. \nIf we cannot replace you\, we use the following ladder for refunding \n\nCancellation within 2 weeks of the workshop start date\, we will refund 50%\nCancellation within 1 week of the workshops start date\, we will refund you 25%\nCancellation within 3 days of the workshop start date\, you will not be refunded\n\nSkill level explanationBob Roos2026-03-08T18:22:19+01:00Skill level explanationEach RopeMarks workshop is designed for a specific level of experience.
